Dina Doyle is a Rhode Island–based figurative and portrait painter whose work weaves classical oil traditions with a contemporary exploration of perception, silence, and resonance. Primarily self-taught, Doyle deepened her practice through continued studies at the New York Academy of Art, RISD, and in Amsterdam with an “Old Dutch Master”, refining a layered approach that draws upon underpainting, glazing, and a restrained palette to create works both timeless and immediate.

Her paintings most often center on the female figure — not as an idealized subject, but as a vessel of experience, emotion, and transformation. Through blossoms, veils, clouds, and layered textures, Doyle creates images that both conceal and reveal, inviting viewers to enter a space where fragility coexists with strength, and silence becomes its own language. She often references the belief that “those who see do not always understand, and those who claim to understand can be the blindest of all” — a paradox that animates her work with mystery and depth.

Doyle has exhibited throughout New England, including at the Providence Art Club, Bristol Art Museum, Cultural Canter of Cape Code, Boston and Tiverton Four Corners Gallery, as well as in regional juried and group shows. Her work has resonated with collectors for its balance of classical technique and contemporary sensibility, where each figure becomes less a portrait than a mirror — reflecting the viewer’s own inner resonance.

Her current series explores the feminine form as both mirror and mask, a meditation on how we perceive and are perceived, how beauty and sorrow entwine, and how art can become a threshold toward wholeness.
